4 men, aged 36 to 41, arrested near Rail Corridor after manhunt in forested area
They were seen running into the forested area by nearby patrolling police officers.
Four men were arrested in the evening of Aug. 8 near the Rail Corridor following a large-scale manhunt.
According to a police statement, the men, aged between 36 and 41, were seen running into a nearby forested area by nearby patrolling police officers at about 6:30pm.
Officers from Clementi Police Division, Police Operations Command Centre, Police Intelligence Department, Gurkha Contingent, Special Operations Command and Home Team Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Command were activated for a search operation.
Manhunt
The men were later caught and police investigations are ongoing.
According to The Straits Times, police vehicles, including several trucks, were seen parked along Sixth Avenue from about 7pm on the night of Aug. 8 to the early morning of Aug. 9.
Plainclothes and dog unit police personnel were seen searching a forested area near Greenleaf Place that same night.
There was also a drone spotted flying over the nearby forest, and police officers blocked off the roads leading into the area.
Hotspot for break-ins
Private estates around the Rail Corridor have become a hotspot of criminal incidents in recent years, particularly housebreaking.
Of the 10 total housebreaking cases recorded in Singapore in 2024, most of them occurred along the Rail Corridor and Bukit Timah road.
