Bangkok-bound train derails in Thailand, at least 9 passengers injured

Investigations on the cause of the derailment are ongoing.

A Bangkok-bound train derailed in Kui Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan on Aug. 9, injuring several passengers.

Three carriages reportedly came off the tracks.

Rescue teams responded to the accident upon receiving reports, The Nation Thailand reported.

Nine passengers were injured, including a monk and a girl, Bangkok Post reported.

Pending investigations

Investigations on the cause of the derailment are ongoing.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) updated that rescue teams are currently assisting injured passengers and transporting them to the hospital.

Alternative transport was arranged for other passengers while the carriages that did not derail were reassembled to continue the journey to the terminal station.

Southern line train services are operating as normal, albeit with delays, SRT added.
