Man, 26, to be charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking woman, 29, with knife at Kallang Wave Mall
The woman was conveyed to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking a 29-year-old woman with a knife at Kallang Wave Mall on Jul. 14.
The man will be charged in court on Jul. 15 with attempted murder, and the police will seek a court order to remand him for psychiatric assessment, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in a Jul. 14 news release.
The offence of attempted murder where hurt is caused to any person by such an act carries life imprisonment and caning, or imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine or caning, or both.
Woman in stable condition
According to the police, they received a call for assistance regarding the incident at around 1:25am on Jul. 14.
After the alleged attack, members of the public disarmed and detained the man before he was arrested by police officers.
The woman was conveyed to hospital, where she received treatment for her injuries.
She is currently in stable condition, said the police.
