According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), such repairs and redecoration works are regularly conducted to ensure that markets are kept clean.
Rent for all 342 stallholders was waived during the renovation works, and will not be raised as a result of the upgrades, NEA previously shared.
The last time Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre underwent a major renovation was eight years ago in 2017.
