Man, 38, arrested for allegedly throwing Soju bottle at SMRT double-decker bus in Orchard, injuring passenger, 57
An 18-year-old teenager who was with the man is also assisting with police investigations.
A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly throwing a Jinro Soju glass bottle at the window of an SMRT double-decker bus from a pedestrian walkway along Orchard Road on the evening of Jul. 5.
A female bus passenger, 57, was injured, and one of the bus' windows was shattered, said the Singapore Police Force in a Jul. 8 news release.
The man will be charged in court on Jul. 9 with committing a rash act causing hurt, which carries an imprisonment term of up to one year, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
Arrested on Jul. 8
According to the police, they received a call for assistance regarding the incident at around 6:50pm on Saturday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly thrown a Jinro Soju glass bottle onto the window of a bus from a pedestrian walkway.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him on Jul. 8.
A glass bottle was seized as an exhibit.

Bus driver stopped bus after incident: SMRT Buses
The aftermath of the incident was caught on camera by an onlooker, who subsequently uploaded the photos onto Xiaohongshu.
In a Jul. 6 statement to Mothership, Deputy Managing Director of SMRT Buses Vincent Gay revealed that the bus affected was a service 190 bus.
According to Gay, the bus was driving along Orchard Road when a member of the public threw a bottle at it, causing the glass on its upper window to break.
In response, the bus driver stopped the vehicle to ensure the safety of the passengers.
All passengers were subsequently transferred to another bus to continue their journey, said Gay.
The Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force also told Mothership on Sunday that the injured passenger was conveyed conscious to Raffles Hospital for treatment.
Police investigations are ongoing.
