Man, 19, dies in early morning motorcycle accident along Tanah Merah Coast Road, family wants to personally thank those who stopped to help

The mother of a late 19-year-old man, who passed away following a motorcycle accident, is appealing to the passers-by who stopped to help their son to contact the family.

The family wants to personally thank the members of the public for their assistance.

Mohammad Irfan Nur Iman Bin Azhar, was a police trainee when he died in a road traffic accident along Tanah Merah Coast Road towards Xilin Avenue on Jun. 22.

Irfan's mother, Iman Syuhadah, took to Facebook on Jul. 6 to post about identifying the Good Samaritans, who had performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Irfan before medical personnel arrived, even though they could not save him.

She appealed to those who were involved in trying to save her late son to reach out to her privately via the numbers she listed on her post so that she and her family can personally thank them for their "courage, kindness, and effort".

The post also said: "Although he has since passed on, our family is deeply grateful to know that in his final moments, there were compassionate strangers who tried their best to help."

About the accident

Irfan, who was a Home Team Academy trainee, was riding his motorcycle with a pillion, an 18-year-old woman.

The Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a road traffic accident involving a motorcycle on Jun. 22 at about 5:45am.

The accident occurred along Tanah Merah Coast Road towards Xilin Avenue.

The police said the motorcycle may have skidded.

SCDF said two persons were conveyed conscious to Changi General Hospital.

The male motorcyclist subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
