WhatsappA chonky black panther was spotted at Malaysia's national zoo, Zoo Negara.

In a TikTok video that has since gained over 2 million views, the user jokingly asked the zoo for an explanation regarding the black-coloured leopard.

"Can Zoo Negara please explain why this black panther is so chonky and cute?" The user asked before tagging the zoo in his caption.

Numerous people found the sight of this majestic cat amusing, with one user noting that if it were not identified as a black panther, one would have thought it was a bear.

One user asked if the panther's enclosure was next to a rhinoceros enclosure, and was worried if it would face "peer pressure", while another joked that it was someone pretending to be a black panther, like in the Korean film Secret Zoo.

Zoo Negara responded to the video, sharing that the feline's name is Apoh and thanking those who care about the cat's weight.

"Don't worry, our vet team is taking care of Apoh with lots of love, giving the best treatment and undivided attention. They're monitoring Apoh closely and making sure he's okay.

We appreciate all the encouraging words given so that Apoh can reach an ideal weight."
