Israel agrees to 60-day Gaza ceasefire, Trump urges Hamas to take the deal or it will 'only get worse'
"We will work with all parties to end the war," Trump said.
Israel has agreed to the "necessary conditions" to finalise a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday (Jul. 1).
"During which time, we will work with all parties to end the war," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Qatar and Egypt will be delivering the final proposal, according to Trump.
"I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE," the U.S. President wrote.
New proposal
CNN, quoting a source familiar with the matter, reported that Qatari officials had submitted a new proposal for a 60-day ceasefire, which is backed by the Trump administration.
The proposal was submitted on the same day that Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer held a meeting with top Trump administration officials in Washington.
It also came months after Hamas rejected an earlier Gaza ceasefire proposal backed by the Trump administration.
The new proposal attempted to factor in Hamas' concerns with the earlier proposal, CNN reported, citing an unnamed source.
The White House did not provide details on the proposal.
Trump to meet Netanyahu
Trump is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next Monday, Jul. 7.
They are expected to discuss Iran, Gaza, Syria, and other regional challenges, according to Reuters, citing an unnamed Israeli official in Washington.
