2 lorries collide along CTE: Man, 34, who got trapped in passenger seat, dies in hospital

He was conveyed unconscious to the hospital.

A 34-year-old lorry passenger passed away after the lorry he was riding in collided with another lorry along Central Expressway (CTE) towards Seletar Expressway (SLE) before Braddell Road exit on Jun. 25.

The driver of the lorry, which the deceased was riding in, was identified as a 24-year-old male.

He was arrested by the police for careless driving causing death.

Aftermath

When Lianhe Zaobao reporters visited the scene of the incident, they saw a white lorry on its side on the road shoulder of CTE.

A group of individuals could be seen behind the lorry.

Items, believed to have been loaded onto the back of the lorry, were scattered on the road.

The other lorry involved in the collision could be seen in the middle of the expressway.

The left side of the lorry was severely damaged, and its windshield had completely fallen off.

A police car and a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicle could be seen parked behind the lorries.

At least six police officers and two SCDF officers were at the scene.

Police investigation ongoing

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force and SCDF confirmed that they were alerted to the collision at around 1:55pm on Jun. 25.

A 34-year-old man was found trapped in the passenger seat of one of the lorries.

SCDF rescued him using hydraulic rescue equipment.

He was conveyed unconscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he subsequently passed away.

The other lorry's driver, a 32-year-old man, was conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
