Just barely two days after the United States bombed Iranian nuclear facilities, Trump declared a "total ceasefire" in the Iran Israel conflict.

The bombing on Jun. 22, 2025 was followed by Iran's own bombing of a U.S. military base in Qatar.

Trump categorised this as "a very weak response" and also thanked Iran for giving them "early notice" of the bombing which did not see any fatalities.

He then quickly followed up that social media post, with another:

This congratulatory message was then elaborated on in the next post, where Trump declared a "complete and total ceasefire" in the coming hours.

This announcement of a ceasefire, however, has seen some pushback from some Iranian officials.

Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said there was "NO 'agreement' on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations".

But he did state that "provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards".

He also later thanked the Iranian armed forces for their fighting "until the very last minute".
