Eleven Singaporeans have been evacuated from Iran following the outbreak of the Israel-Iran war on Jun. 13, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson said on Jun. 23, 2025.

A family of three was transported from Tehran, Iran's capital, to Muscat, Oman, together with a group of Omanis and other nationals, with the aid of the Oman government.

Another Singaporean was also evacuated alongside a group of Malaysians and other nationals from Iran to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, with help from the Malaysian government.

Both the Malaysian and Omani governments, as well as embassy officials, worked closely with officials from the Singapore Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and Muscat respectively to facilitate the departures, MFA said.

Seven other Singaporeans in Iran have also been provided the necessary consular assistance by MFA.

They have said to have evacuated via the Iran-Armenia land border and the port of Bandar Abbas to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Singapore government expressed "its deepest appreciation and gratitude to the governments of Oman and Malaysia" for aiding in the evacuations of the Singaporeans, MFA said.

Background

Iran and Israel have been embroiled in a war since Israel commenced military strikes against Iranian targets on Jun. 13, including killing Iranian officials in residential areas resulting in civilian casualties.

Iran has hit back with ballistic missiles aimed at Israel cities, including damaging a hospital in the town of Beersheba, resulting in civilian casualties.

The U.S. got involved in the war on Jun. 22 as President Donald Trump ordered the use of "bunker buster" bombs on nuclear facilities in Fordow and Natanz in Iran.
