S'porean man seen arrested at Bangkok airport for allegedly recruiting women for prostitution & money laundering

He was reportedly wanted by Thai and foreign authorities.

Thai immigration authorities arrested a Singaporean man at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on Jun. 18.

According to Thai media Khaosod, the man was wanted by Thai and foreign authorities for his suspected involvement in international human trafficking, recruiting women for prostitution, and money laundering.

He has since been handed over to Thailand's Technology Crime Suppression Division for further investigation.

Thai authorities received intelligence before man's arrival

According to Khaosod, Thai immigration authorities were notified that a foreign national wanted for money laundering and recruiting women for prostitution would be entering Thailand through Suvarnabhumi Airport.

On Wednesday, the Singaporean man was arrested upon his arrival in Bangkok from Singapore.

Caught on camera

The arrest was caught on camera.

In the video, a man dressed in black was seen walking through the airport before he was accosted by a group of uniformed personnel and stopped.

At least 10 individuals, including police officers, subsequently gathered around him and escorted him to one side for questioning.

The man's arms were restrained by two personnel in vests, one on each side.

A Thai police officer was seen filming the process with a mobile phone.

Faces multiple charges

Khaosod reported that preliminary investigations revealed that the man was allegedly involved in transnational human trafficking operations.

In particular, he was accused of recruiting young women for prostitution and transferring financial proceeds for money laundering.

He is also accused of advertising or soliciting prostitution through documents and public media, as well as promoting and facilitating prostitution while receiving various forms of benefits.
