Two People's Park Centre stalls have won praise from members of the public for offering economy rice with three side dishes — one meat and two vegetables — for just S$2.50.

The two stalls are Lady Boss economy rice stall, located on the first floor of the mall, and Mixed vegetable rice・sweet potato porridge (什菜饭・番薯糜) stall, located at basement one of the mall, according to Stomp and Shin Min Daily News.

Lady Boss

When Shin Min reporters visited People's Park Centre, they noticed a sign with phrases, such as "thank you, customers" and "discounts offered to pay back [customers]", next to Lady Boss economy rice stall.

The sign also stated that the price of a plate of economy rice with one meat and two vegetable dishes was S$2.50, while it would be an inflation-beating S$3.30 for one vegetable and two meat dishes.

A stall assistant told the Chinese daily that the stall has been offering the S$2.50 economy rice for some time "to offer customers more affordable options".

However, customers who are looking to add on more expensive dishes, such as pork chop and pork belly, will not be able to enjoy the discounted price, added the stall assistant.

The price for meat dishes at the stall starts at S$1.20, whereas the price for vegetable dishes starts at S$0.80.

Rice is sold at S$0.60 a portion.

According to Shin Min, the Mixed vegetable rice・sweet potato porridge stall also set up a similar sign on its premises, thanking patrons for their support.

The sign also stated that the stall is offering discounted economy rice options, which are priced the same as Lady Boss.

A manager of the stall told the Chinese daily that customers keen on the S$2.50 economy rice option can choose from meat dishes, such as braised chicken and sesame oil chicken, as well as vegetable dishes, such as bitter gourd.
