A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing cash and printed copies of Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers from a flat along Jurong West Street 93 in the morning of May 31.

Cash amounting to S$55 and RM168 (S$50), as well as S$193 worth of CDC vouchers, were purportedly stolen, according to a press release by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on Jun. 1.

With the aid of police cameras and CCTV footage, officers arrested the man along Jurong East Street 32 within four hours of the report.

The cash and CDC vouchers were recovered from the man's possession.

The man will be charged in court on Jun. 2 with the offence of housebreaking to commit theft.

If found guilty, the man may be sentenced to a jail term of up to ten years and a fine.

Police advised all owners to secure all possible entrances into the house, including doors, windows, and grilles, with good-quality grilles and close-shackle padlocks when leaving the place unattended.

They also advised owners to refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in the house, as well as installing security devices such as burglar alarms and CCTVs inside the house premises.
