Mediacorp 987FM DJ Germaine Tan announced her engagement to Zouk Group CEO boyfriend Andrew Li in an Instagram post on Jun. 1.
Li popped the question to Tan on a private beach in the Maldives at sunset after dating for more than two years, to which she said yes.
Tan revealed that Li had been secretly planning the proposal for a while and chose to do it on the beach because he knew of her love for sunsets and the ocean.
The couple met at a bar in 2022, and began officially dating around six months after that.
"I knew all along it was going to be you."
In the Instagram post, Tan commented that finding a partner, lover, and best friend in the same person is one of life’s greatest privileges.
"Relationships are never easy, but for all that we’ve put into nurturing our world together, life has rewarded us with a beautiful, deep, soul-level connection," she said.
Li told her during the proposal:
“I knew all along it was going to be you. The way you love me so fiercely inspires me to be the best version of myself. If you'll let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you happy.”
Yet Tan was so nervous she could only blurt out, “What should I say now? Yes?”
Tan took the opportunity to respond in kind on Instagram, where she wrote:
"To the love of my life: Thank you for loving me with such patience, gentleness, and kindness. Thank you for always showing up for me in every way, especially on the days and seasons that I struggle. Your care and generosity toward my loved ones make me even more in love with you.
"I can’t imagine life without you as my pillar of support, and I wouldn’t want a life like that anyway," she said.
