S'porean man, 26, brushed genitals against woman's hair for 30 secs while she was asleep in classroom, gets jail

After his female friend fell asleep in a classroom in school in May 2023, a Singaporean man unzipped his pants and used his genitals to brush against her hair for around 30 seconds.

He also recorded his actions using his handphone and kept the footage for his viewing.

The man's offences only came to light after someone lodged a police report in June 2023, stating that she saw him standing and walking naked along the common corridor of an apartment block.

During investigations, obscene photographs and videos, including the one the man filmed in May 2023, were recovered.

It was only then that his female friend, who had been close friends with the man since 2011, found out about his deeds.

On Jun. 3, 2025, the man, now 26, was sentenced to five months and one week's imprisonment after admitting to his offences.

Took several obscene photos of victim on multiple occasions

According to court documents seen by Mothership, the video in May 2023 was not the first time the man took obscene photos or videos of the victim without her consent.

During a trip to South Korea in April 2023, the man admitted that he had positioned his genitals above the victim's face when she was asleep.

Court documents stated that the photos "clearly captured" his private parts and the victim's face.

On another occasion, the man positioned his genitals above the victim's back and took photographs without her knowledge while giving her a back massage.

Investigations further revealed that he had also attempted to take photographs of her cleavage on three occasions.

Took obscene video of victim in school

When the man committed his crime in May 2023, he and the victim were classmates at a higher tertiary institute, reported CNA.

On the day of the incident, they were in a classroom together when the victim fell asleep and laid her head on the table.

The man then proceeded to perform the obscene act and only stopped when the victim woke up.

When the victim found out about his deeds later on during investigations, she felt disgusted and uncomfortable.

Exploited victim at her most vulnerable: prosecution

Following the man's arrest on Sep. 20, 2024, he was released on bail.

On Jun. 3, 2025, the man was sentenced to five months and one week in jail after pleading guilty to one count of molestation, reported CNA.

Two other charges of voyeurism and appearing nude in a public place were taken into consideration for his sentencing.

The prosecution, in the submissions on sentencing, contended that the man "exploited the victim who was asleep and at her most vulnerable".

Highlighting that the man and the victim had been close friends for over 10 years before the incident, the prosecution further submitted that he "took advantage of his proximity to the victim to commit these reprehensible acts".
