Two people, a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a motor vehicle theft.

On May 29, at around 6.15 pm, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) received a report that a lorry parked near 53 Ubi Avenue 1 had been purportedly stolen.

According to the police news release, extensive ground enquiries and images from CCTVs and Police cameras helped officers from Bedok Police Division establish the pair's identities.

The duo was later arrested on Jun. 3, 2025, and the stolen lorry was recovered.

The pair will be charged in court on Jun. 4 with theft of a motor vehicle.

If found guilty, they could face up to seven years' imprisonment and a fine.

To prevent theft of their motor vehicles, SPF advises all owners to:

  • Park their vehicle in well-lit areas
  • Install an anti-theft alarm for the vehicle and ensure it is well-maintained
  • Remove the ignition key when the vehicle is left unattended
  • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when leaving the vehicle
