M'sian woman's boss allegedly forces employees to share live location while on leave
As proof she is actually on holiday.
According to the South China Morning Post, a Malaysian woman took to social media to share that her boss requires her and her colleagues to share their live location when they take their work leave.
This is to make sure that they are truly on holiday, even while overseas.
Marked as absent if they don't comply
The woman and her colleagues must share their live location, including when they go on sick or unpaid leave.
The application status of their leaves would remain pending till they share their live location.
If they did not comply, they would be marked as absent from work instead.
Boss called her multiple times
The woman shared a photo of herself having fun at the beach on Threads and said that she had been angry about her boss's orders.
As a result, she decided not to share her live location during that trip.
Her boss then apparently called her multiple times when she failed to give her live location.
Outraged comments
According to the SCMP, before the post was removed, it attracted numerous outraged comments such as:
“This is not normal. Your boss is crazy."
“How can your boss breach your privacy like that? Staff can do whatever they want during their annual leave.”
“They can only ask for your location when they sponsor your trips.”
“What they do is a threat to your safety and your personal life. I would quit and get a new job if it were me.”
According to Malaysia's labour laws, employees are entitled to eight days of annual leave and 14 days of sick leave.
