The KTM Shuttle Tebrau train service between Johor Bahru and Singapore will cease operations in 2027, following the upcoming opening of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link.

RTS Link, which will run between Woodlands North in Singapore and Bukit Chagar in Johor, is slated to be completed by Jan. 1, 2027.

The Shuttle Tebrau train service will cease operation six months after, as reported by Harian Metro.

Johor’s Works, Transport, Infrastructure, and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said that the Shuttle Tebrau trains will be used to increase the frequency of trips between Johor Bahru Sentral and Kempas Station.

Fazli said the 1.1km train service between Singapore and Malaysia could carry up to 8,635 passengers a day, operating 31 trips in both directions.

The five-minute train service would carry passengers between Woodlands Train Checkpoint in Singapore and Johor Bahru Sentral in Malaysia.

A ticket from Malaysia to Singapore costs RM5 (S$1.50), while a ticket from Singapore to Malaysia costs S$5.

Shuttle Tebrau, operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), began its service between Singapore and Malaysia in July 2015.

RTS Link

RTS Link reportedly achieved about 50 per cent completion in February 2025.

The train service aims at transporting passengers across the border between Singapore and Malaysia in six minutes, according to a Facebook post by the organisation.

It aims to ferry up to 10,000 passengers an hour each way at a peak hour frequency of 3.6 minutes per train.

RTS Link's operation hours will be between 6am to 12am daily.
