A kitten that was allegedly abused by a worker at Tuas has been adopted, said the National Parks Board (NParks).

Upon receiving feedback from the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Singapore, NParks visited the premises at Tech Park Crescent and is in contact with the relevant persons.

"We were informed that the cat has since been adopted, and we will be checking on its well-being," NParks said in a Jun. 27 statement.

It also thanked SPCA for alerting them to the case.

The case

The case came to light after a colleague of the alleged abuser submitted a tip-off to SPCA.

In a photo shared with SPCA, the tabby kitten could be seen stuffed into a round plastic container.

The container was then rolled around, according to the informant.

But when SPCA conducted a surprise visit, they were told that the kitten had been released and the worker warned.

The manager declined to show SPCA any CCTV footage or facilitate further investigation.

Without any information as to the kitten's well-being or whereabouts, SPCA submitted a report to the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) under NParks.

NParks confirmed that it is investigating the case.

A spokesperson added that "appropriate action will be taken if any wrongdoing is established".
