New S’pore app Kakee rewards users for enjoying content

Local media company So Drama! Entertainment has announced Kakee, a new entertainment app that rewards users for enjoying content.

Users can listen, watch and play games on the app to earn “Koins” that can be redeemed for rewards, such as Grab and NTUC FairPrice vouchers, as well as movie tickets and other prizes.

With its name taking after the colloquial term kaki, meaning close friend, Kakee aims to be “your rewards and entertainment buddy”.

“I don’t think there is a single app that does everything on a single platform yet,” So Drama! Entertainment Executive Director Melvin Kuek told Mothership, noting that Kakee allows users to consume a variety of content all in one place.

"What we really want to do is champion local content… and best of all, you get rewarded for it," he added.

Officially launched on Jun. 6, Kakee is now free to download on the App Store and Google Play.

Watch, listen, play

Through the app, users can tune in to original music from the Music & Drama Company, as well as 24/7 music streams and DJ broadcasts from Power 98 and 88.3JIA.

This includes more curated broadcasts, such as 88.3JIA K-Pop and Power 98 Y2K.

Following their move to Kakee, both Power 98 and 88.3JIA’s radio broadcasts will cease transmission from Oct. 30, 2025.

The app also offers mobile games and video content, ranging from “Kakee Originals” productions to short-form videos.

Launch event

To celebrate Kakee's launch, a public event will be held from Jun. 26 to 29, 11am to 10pm daily at Plaza Singapura.

Organisers have called the event a “physical manifestation of the app”, with booths representing the different aspects of the app – watch, listen, play.

There is also a station where attendees can stand to win rewards, such as food vouchers and Burger King plushies.

Attendees can also attend live performances by DJs from Power 98 and 88.3JIA.
