Boy, 2, in China falls 20 storeys from building & survives
A security guard and police officer rushed the boy to hospital 800m away on foot.
A two-year-old boy in Chongqing, China fell off a 20th-floor balcony of a residential building and survived.
The boy, Qiang Qiang (pseudonym), was reportedly left alone for a few minutes by his grandmother on Jun. 19 at about 8am, according to Chinese media.
The grandmother left the boy alone after she had observed that her grandson was asleep and went out for a few minutes.
Tree breaks fall
The boy's miraculous survival was attributed to his fall being broken by a tree and then a bush, as well as the quick-thinking actions of his rescuers, who ran to the hospital with the child.
The boy suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries and was receiving follow-up treatment.
Security guard ran with boy to hospital
At about 8:47am that day, a 50-year-old security guard received an emergency notification at the compound.
He saw the grandmother holding Qiang Qiang, who was bleeding.
The boy's father was also alerted and he soon arrived at the scene.
Instead of waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the security guard held the boy and ran towards a nearby hospital 800m away.

A physician, who attended to the child, said the boy was in critical condition.
He was incoherent, his pupils appeared abnormal, and his blood oxygen level was extremely low.
The doctors managed to stabilise his condition.
A doctor revealed that it took 16 minutes for the boy to get to the hospital, to be attended to by specialists, and to be transferred.
Qiang Qiang's survival was also credited to his relatively small frame and light bodyweight, which prevented more serious injuries.
