Two women and one man were arrested for suspected drug-related offences after crashing into a lorry while speeding away from the police.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) was patrolling along Syed Alwi Road towards Jalan Besar on Jun. 29 at around 5:45 am when they spotted a car parked haphazardly along the road.

When the officers went to check on the car driver, the driver suddenly fled from the car. The police officers then gave chase, and eventually subdued the man.

While the officers were arresting the man, the car was driven away by one of the passengers.

The police managed to locate the car along Syed Alwi Road, but it sped away when it spotted the police, colliding with a lorry in the process.

The police found substances suspected to be controlled drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car.

The 25-year-old male car driver was conveyed conscious to the hospital and was subsequently arrested for suspected drug-related offences.

He was previously wanted for prior traffic-related offences.

A 25-year-old woman, who took over the wheel of the car, along with the 23-year-old female passenger were also arrested for suspected drug-related offences.

The suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, and investigations are ongoing.

What the lorry driver saw

According to Shin Min Daily News, the lorry driver said that at the time of the accident, a blue car was driving behind him and kept honking its horn.

He shared that the other car kept honking at him to drive faster, but since it was a one-way street, he could not give way.

When he arrived at the intersection, he found a police car with sirens blaring in front of him, blocking off the area.

The car then collided with the lorry.

The driver told Shin Min Daily News that the police surrounded the car, and when the two women got out of the car, they were handcuffed by the police. One woman apparently yelled at the police not to touch her.
