The Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) has raised S$8,000 from the sale of election posters in its post-General Election fundraiser.

Desmond Lim, chairman of the SDA, announced the fundraising results in a May 26 Facebook post.

He added that he would match the S$8,000 raised dollar-for-dollar.

The total sum — S$16,000 — was donated to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

He also donated an additional S$5,000 to Willing Hearts, a local charity that provides free meals to needy and marginalised people in Singapore.

The posters were sold for S$20 each.

At a thank-you gathering on May 25, Lim thanked supporters, volunteers, and members for their hard work during the GE2025 campaign.

He thanked SDA's voters "from the bottom of our hearts" and assured them they would continue to serve residents of Pasir Ris-Changi GRC.

Lim also thanked those who did not vote for the party.

"Sometimes a loss in the General Election is not truly a loss; sometimes it is a second chance," he said.

"We respect your decision and your choice motivates us to work even harder to earn your trust, and hopefully your vote, in the next General Election in 2030."

Selling election posters

It's not the first time the SDA has sold its election posters for charity.

In 2020, it raised S$5,000 from the sale of excess election posters. Lim matched that amount dollar-for-dollar then as well.

Speaking to Mothership, Lim said the most popular poster was the one bearing the slogan "Eat the Rich or Kena Makan".

It is currently sold out, but SDA plans to print more copies soon.

The proceeds will be used for grassroots efforts in Pasir Ris-Changi GRC and charity events.

Outside of his work with the SDA, Lim himself is the founder of a local charity, the Dedicated Locals' Caring Community (DLCC), which organises events for the needy in Singapore and overseas.

Most recently, DLCC held a free medical check-up event for senior citizens at Pulau Ubin on May 12.
