Chan Chun Sing was sworn in as Singapore's Defence Minister on May 23, taking over Ng Eng Hen, who retired after more than two decades in politics.
He was also appointed Coordinating Minister for Public Services and relinquished his education portfolio to Desmond Lee.
Night ride to the office
Chan posted a selfie on Facebook on May 24, chronicling his night ride to the office.
In the background was a Gombak Drive street sign, indicating he was in the vicinity of Mindef HQ.
He added: "Had a nice chat with our vigilant soldiers on night duty. 🤣"
The comment section was interesting to say the least. One quipped that his supposed unannounced visit was worse than an encik turnout, an activity that describes testing out soldiers' operational readiness, usually in the middle of the night.
Another said the sight of the Defence Minister cycling to the post must have given the guard commander a shock.
Chan also changed his Facebook cover photo last night.
Not the first cycling photo
This wasn't Chan's first photo of him cycling around the island.
One can conclude that Chan is an avid cyclist. So no camp is safe.
