Along the streets of Makati in the Philippines, a photographer came across a sight similar to a movie scene.
On May 27, William Roberts shared on Instagram that he was walking home from the gym when he saw a head emerge from a street drain.
In the photos that Roberts captured, the woman could be seen climbing out of the drain before running towards him.
When the woman started coming towards him, he was prepared to defend himself, but thankfully, a person that Roberts believes to be either from the military or police called after her.
The man then gave chase, leaving motorists, pedestrians and a traffic officer "stunned, confused, maybe even a little amused".
Roberts noted that it was "one of those moments that stays with you" and highlighted that there is more to the city.

According to Manila Bulletin, local authorities inspected the drain and recovered several items inside the drainage system, including pieces of cloth and steel.
The Makati City Police later identified the woman as a street dweller often seen wandering behind the city's medical centre.
Manila Bulletin added that the police coordinated with the Makati Commercial Estate Association to inspect the drain and install a cover to avoid a similar incident.
Follow up
In an interview with Spot.Ph, Roberts said it felt like a scene from a movie and noted that the woman looked disoriented and maybe panicked.
Roberts told the media that after the woman ran past him, he lost sight of her in the crowd and traffic.
He then returned to the drain at 2:30am to investigate and found that it was larger than he had thought.
In his follow-up Instagram posts, Roberts said he returned to the spot and saw all the local authorities gathered, fixing the drain the woman had climbed out of.
They told him it was in response to his post and shared that they were unsure where the drain leads.
On May 28, Roberts claimed to have identified the woman.
According to his post, he met a man named Jerwin who confirmed that the woman in the photo, BB, was part of his community and apparently his partner.
The man also shared that another member of his community was spotted climbing out of the same drain in December 2024.
In addition, the man told Roberts that they do not live in the canals.
