Open-air car park at Woodlands Centre Road near Causeway to close permanently from Jun. 2, 2025

The open-air car park at Woodlands Centre Road is set to be permanently closed from Jun. 2, 2025.

This is to facilitate redevelopment works for Woodlands Checkpoint, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) said in an advisory noticed pasted at the car park on May 16.

The car park is often used by travellers who have private transport, but opt for public transport when heading to Johor Bahru.

Redevelopment of Woodlands Checkpoint

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) previously announced the redevelopment of Woodlands Checkpoint in January 2024 to alleviate congestion, improve travel time and enhance security at this land crossing.

As Phase 1 of the redevelopment works will be commencing soon, the surface car park W3 will be demolished to facilitate the construction of the Old Woodlands Town Centre (OWTC) extension, the advisory read.

According to an ICA press release dated Jan. 29, 2024, the OWTC extension will increase cargo clearance capacity by 30 per cent and arrival car clearance capacity by 95 per cent.

There will be 21 bi-directional cargo lanes and 78 arrival car lanes constructed at the OWTC extension.
