Singapore actor Mark Lee advised former celebrity hairstylist Addy Lee not to be  "too ruthless" regarding his fallout with local host Quan Yifeng.

The two were seen together in a Facebook post by Addy on May 16, where he expressed gratitude to Mark for their long-standing friendship.

In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, Mark shared that they had recently met for dinner in Bangkok while he was there for a film shoot.

Met up in Bangkok

Addressing the recent dispute between Addy and Quan, Mark said that they didn’t discuss the matter much during dinner, as he felt it was best left to the people involved to comment on it.

However, he did caution Addy not to be "too ruthless" or harsh in his criticism of Quan.

"Although I'm his good friend but I do not know the full picture. So I can't say much. I only told him not to be too ruthless so that it's not so awkward in the future," he told Shin Min.

In response, Addy simply smiled, Mark recalled, adding that he believed Addy knew how to handle the situation.

Mark went on to describe Addy as a hardworking and kind person who is always willing to help others.

"Of course, there have been unpleasant things between us. There was a period when he didn't talk to me. I also felt puzzled. I told him about it. It turned out that there was a villain behind us who destroyed our relationship. After talking about it, we reconciled and everything was fine."

Mark and Addy first met between 1994 and 1995, with Addy originally serving as Mark's hairstylist.

They eventually co-owned a salon for over 20 years before Addy sold it in 2020 to focus on his career in China.

Fallout with Quan Yifeng

The fallout began after Quan’s daughter, Singaporean actress Eleanor Lee, was accused of insulting Chinese nationals in an audio clip that went viral around May 7.

In the clip, a woman could be heard saying in Mandarin, "[...] because most Chinese nationals are idiots, most of them are," among other remarks.

Lee subsequently denied the accusation.

On May 12, Addy posted a cryptic message online, saying that "karma has finally arrived" for a mother-daughter pair.

The following day, he went live on Facebook, revealing more details about his fallout with Quan.

Addy said that he and Quan were once as close as family, but their relationship deteriorated after they worked together to sell hair products via livestream during the pandemic in 2020.

Among his claims were that Quan had a bad temper and once scolded him during a livestream.

Quan has since responded, sharing her side of the story.

She described feeling "exhausted to [the point of] death" doing the livestreams.

Quan explained that although she was earning a lot of money livestreaming, she was feeling increasingly uneasy about the work.

She felt that it was not appropriate for her to have a side hustle while she was still under Mediacorp.
