Driver, 78, runs red light near Taipei elementary school, at least 3 dead, 12 injured
The incident happened near an elementary school in Taipei.
A 78-year-old man crashed into a group of motorcyclists and pedestrians near an elementary school in Taipei, Taiwan, around 4pm on May 19, leaving three dead and at least 12 injured, according to local news outlets TVBS and The Central News Agency.
Footage of the incident showed the car speeding past a red light.
It was reported that the driver crashed into three motorcycles and a bicycle at the intersection and continued approximately 140 metres down the street before crashing into a road divider.

Victims, including the driver, were rushed to hospitals following the incident, where two 12-year-old female students and a woman in her 40s were pronounced dead.
Out of the 12 injured, seven were students from a junior high school and one was a kindergarten student.
Police said the driver had a valid license and tested negative for alcohol but was in a coma from crash injuries, preventing further questioning.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
