A 55-year-old Singaporean man, who was on holiday in Niigata, Japan, has been arrested for allegedly committing indecent acts on a teenage boy in a hot spring facility.

Between 4pm and 5pm on May 14, the man is suspected to have touched the boy, who is under 18, multiple times without his consent, including on his genitals.

The incident came to light on May 15 after a police report was filed by someone related to the teenager, local media reported.

According to The Straits Times, the man was arrested around 9.30pm at Niigata Station on May 16.

He has denied the allegations, reportedly telling local authorities he had "just put (his) hand on the left shoulder of the boy who was sitting down to get out of the bath", and that he had not done anything indecent.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.
