Update on May 24 at 6:10pm: This article has been updated with a statement from SCDF.

After a bus rammed into five other cars in an industrial building on May 23, its 65-year-old driver was sent to the hospital.

The accident took place on the fourth floor of Carros Centre, which is located in Kranji.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that at about 12:30pm on May 23, they were alerted to an accident at 60 Jalan Lam Huat.

Police said the accident involved a bus and five cars, and a 65-year-old bus driver was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

SCDF said he was brought to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

As the car drove through the car park, a white bus was seen travelling at a high speed in the opposite direction.

The bus then crashed into a row of parked cars outside a car dealership.

Alerted by the crash, two men from nearby shops came over to see what had happened.

'If I hadn't stopped, I could have died': Car driver

A private-hire driver surnamed Cai (transliteration), 48, told Shin Min Daily News (Shin Min) that he was bringing his car in for maintenance works when he saw the bus driving towards him without slowing down.

Cai said he stopped his car at the turn as he felt something was amiss.

Cai told Shin Min that it was a "terrifying" experience.

"I was just next to the bus and nearly got hit by it. If I hadn't stopped, I could have died," said Cai.

A picture provided by Cai showed that the front of the bus was badly damaged.

SCDF paramedics were at the scene to assist.

Shin Min reported that other cars at the scene were visibly damaged. One car had its bumper knocked off, and others were dented.

Employees working nearby claimed that all the damaged cars were owned by the car dealership.

Shin Min reported that it understands the vehicles had already been reserved by buyers.

A representative of the car dealership, however, refuted this claim and said the damaged cars did not belong to the dealership.

She also told Shin Min that the dealership suffered "minimal losses" from the accident, but did not disclose further details.

Driver, 65, assisting with investigations

Mothership understands that the only person injured in the accident was the driver.

While the initial post claimed that the bus was a school bus, Mothership understands that this claim is untrue.

Police said that the 65-year-old bus driver was conveyed to the hospital.

He is also assisting with investigations.

Police investigations are ongoing.
