335 men & women aged 16 to 81 under investigation for scamming over S$15.4 million: SPF

335 suspected scammers and money mules are assisting with police investigations after a two-week operation between May 9 and 22.

The youngest was just 16 and the oldest was 81.

The persons, including 119 women and 216 men, are believed to be involved in over 850 scams.

Over S$15.4 million was lost.

The scams include investment scams, job scams, e-commerce scams, government official impersonation scams and more.

In a May 24 statement, the police that the alleged scammers are being investigated for the offences of cheating, money laundering, or providing payment services without a licence.

"The police take a serious stance against any person who may be involved in scams, and perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law," it said.

The police reminded members of the public to always reject requests from others to use their bank account or mobile lines, to avoid becoming accomplice to crimes.
