Are you born between Mar. 21 and Apr. 19?

If so, congratulations: Your horoscope sign, Aries, is "best represented" in Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's cabinet as of April 2025.

Five of the 19 cabinet ministers fall under the Aries horoscope:

  • Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat
  • Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam
  • Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu
  • Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli
  • Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Indranee Rajah

In astrology, Aries are regarded as energetic, courageous go-getters who thrive on challenges.

Looks like we are in good hands (Disclosure: I, too, am an Aries).

Aquarius = 3, Cancer = 3

The second "best represented" horoscope sign in the cabinet is tied between Aquarius and Cancer, represented by three cabinet ministers each.

Aquariuses, whose birthdays fall between Jan. 20 and Feb. 18, are believed to be intellectually curious, creative individuals who can adapt to different situations easily.

Cabinet ministers who fall under this star sign are Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.

Cancerians, whose birthdays fall between Jun. 21 and Jul. 22, are believed to be empathetic, sensible individuals who have strong desires to care for others.

Cabinet ministers whose horoscope sign is Cancer are Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, Minister for National Development Desmond Lee, and Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Maliki Osman.

4 star signs not represented

Amongst the remaining six cabinet ministers, two of them — Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung and Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat — are Scorpios (birthdays between Oct. 23 and Nov. 21)

Those who fall under this star sign are believed to be intelligent, driven, and discerning.

PM Wong and Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen are Sagittarians (birthdays between Nov. 22 and Dec. 21).

Those under Sagittarius are thought to be warm-hearted, optimistic, open-minded, and are drawn to exploring the unknown.

Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean and Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng are Capricorns (birthdays between Dec. 22 and Jan. 19).

Capricorns are supposed to be ambitious, pragmatic, and hardworking.

Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth Edwin Tong is the only Leo (birthday between Jul. 23 and Aug. 22), whereas Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing is the only Libra (birthday between Sep. 23 and Oct. 22) in the cabinet.

Leos are believed to be confident, generous, and loyal, while Libras are believed to be fair-minded, diplomatic, and imaginative.

There are four star signs that are not represented in the cabinet,

They are Pisces (birthday between Feb. 19 and Mar. 20), Taurus (birthday between Apr. 20 and May 20), Gemini (birthday between May 21 and Jun. 20), and Virgo (birthday between Aug. 23 and Sep. 22).

Almost half of cabinet ministers are fire signs

Interestingly, PM Wong, a Sagittarian, has a cabinet where fire signs — Aries, Leo, Sagittarius — make up almost half of the team.

As fire signs share similar traits, they are believed to be more compatible with one another — they communicate and work well together in professional settings, amplifying each other's strengths and energy.

Still need proof? Both Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh and party chair Sylvia Lim are fire signs — Singh is a Leo, while Lim's star sign is Aries.

A cabinet with all four elements

While some astrology believers caution that a group filled with fire signs could potentially get carried away by their drive and act in the heat of the moment, this is not a problem for the Singapore cabinet.

This is because the team has members representing all four horoscope elements — fire, earth, air, and water — thereby bringing the strengths of each element to the cabinet and complementing each other.

For instance, earth signs, which are Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo, are believed to be grounded and analytical individuals who pay great attention to details.

(Fun fact: Singapore's first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew was a Virgo.)

Likewise, air signs, which comprise Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra, are believed to be creative, sociable individuals who can inspire others to think of new ideas.

Finally, water signs, which consist of Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio, are believed to be empathetic, nurturing individuals who help foster a closely-knit team.

Given the above, although astrology was very, very unlikely to be one of the factors for one to become a minister, PM Wong's team, at least by astrological standards, turned out to be a diverse yet balanced team.

The more you know.
