Couple from China arrested for filming themselves having sex on Thai street pavement

A couple from China were arrested after they were seen having sex in broad daylight on a pavement in Pattaya, Thailand on Apr. 9.

The 67-year-old man and 37-year-old woman had also set up a camera on a tripod to film their antics, which was done in full view of passers-by and drivers, according to Thai media.

Local police were alerted by a security guard who saw a foreign couple having sex on the footpath near the entrance to the Walking Street, a pedestrian zone in the red-light district of Pattaya, Bangkok Post reported.

CCTV footage showed the man setting up a tripod and camera before removing his shirt and trousers.

The woman was wearing just a shirt at first but later removed it.

Police identified the couple as Chinese nationals, Oh Zhihang, 67, and Lin Tingting, 37, and contacted the hotel where they were staying to summon them for questioning, Thaiger reported.

Arrested

Oh told police via an interpreter that he was a photographer with a penchant for taking nude photoshoots, and that he had done so in other places around the world, Bangkok Post reported.

Oh said they chose the entrance to Walking Street as their backdrop as it was "globally recognised", according to The Nation Thailand.

He claimed that he did not know that their actions were illegal in Thailand.

Police said Oh apologised to the Thai people and authorities for "damaging the tourism image of Pattaya".

The pair faces charges under Thai law for committing an indecent act in public.
