M'sia man wins S$3.57 million jackpot with numbers from wedding anniversary dinner bill

A 53-year-old man from Penang, Malaysia won the RM11.77 million (S$3.57 million) Toto 4D jackpot on Mar. 29, using numbers from the bill for his wedding anniversary dinner.

"I truly understand now why the Cantonese have a saying that goes: if you love your wife, you will become rich," the man told Sports Toto Malaysia (STM).

Winning numbers from anniversary dinner bill

The man, who works as a doctor in Penang, explained to China Press that the winning pair of numbers – 4486 and 5704 — came from the receipt number for a candlelit dinner he had with his wife to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

“When I was paying the bill for the dinner, those numbers caught my attention," the man said.

And it paid off, as he subsequently struck gold in the RM12 million Toto 4D Jackpot 1 draw on Mar. 29.

STM said the man bought a System 3 ticket in Penang that won him the RM11.77 million (S$3.57 million) jackpot, Malaysian media reported.

He also won an additional RM336 (S$102) from the System Play bonus.

When the man and his wife came forward to claim the prize, they thanked STM for giving them such a wonderful anniversary gift, China Press reported.

The man said he planned to share the winnings with his siblings, and save the rest for his children's future.

The remaining prize pool of RM220,000 (S$66,770) was won by a punter from Sarawak.
