Movement.
People's Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Nee Soon GRC, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, announced to the media that he would leave Nee Soon GRC to contest in Marine Parade-Braddel Heights GRC in the upcoming General Elections.
According to The Straits Times (ST), Faishal said the move was made at Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's request.
"PM had asked me to go over to Marine Parade, and I have agreed," he said.
Recently, the Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development has been seen around Marine Parade-Braddell Heights.
Faishal was an MP for Marina Parade GRC in 2006 before joining Nee Soon GRC in 2011.
"I'm very fortunate to be able to grow with the residents here in Nee Soon. We have grown from strength to strength, and it's been about 14 years, and it's been a beautiful journey... Going back to Marine Parade is a homecoming," he added.
New faces
Faishal was joined by NMP Syed Harun Alhabsyi and former Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) director Goh Hanyan, ST reported.
Both Harun and Goh have been seen walking about Nee Soon with other Nee Soon GRC MPs, drawing speculation on their potential run in the upcoming General Election.
Faishal shared that he was happy that Goh had come forward to stand in the 2025 election, noting that she was prepared and had met with numerous residents, said ST.
Faishal also expressed his confidence in Harun as a potential candidate as he is a well-known figure in the Malay community and will be able to engage with the Malay residents in Nee Soon.
If Harun and Goh are indeed fielded in Nee Soon, they will potentially face Red Dot United.
