Former Workers' Party member of parliament (MP) Leon Perera made an appearance yesterday at the Progress Singapore Party's (PSP) first rally of the election season at Catholic High School.
In an Apr. 24 Instagram story, he shared a selfie of himself with PSP candidate Lawrence Pek, from the party's Choa Chu Kang GRC team.

He stopped short of donning the party's red-and-white, though.
Not a PSP candidate
The former Aljunied MP caused a stir when he appeared at PSP headquarters within hours of the Polling Day announcement.
This was because Perera announced in January 2025 that he was based in New York, U.S. for work, casting doubt on rumours that he might be contesting in the GE.
Perera said earlier that he was helping PSP "in a personal capacity as a non-member". This sparked initial rumours that he would return to Singapore politics under the PSP banner.
But PSP chairman Tan Cheng Bock later confirmed that Perera would not contest in GE2025 as a PSP member.
Tan said: "I could let you guess, but I won't be so bad. He is not standing with us. He is not a candidate. I'll be very honest and frank with you."
Perera resigned from the WP in July 2023 over a past extramarital affair with then-fellow WP member Nicole Seah, which had ended by the time the resignation occurred.
