Bartley Secondary school student arrested after cutting teacher with penknife

The teacher has been given medical leave and is recovering at home.

A teacher from Bartley Secondary School was conveyed to the hospital after he was cut by a student with a penknife.

In response to Mothership's queries, Bartley Secondary School said that the incident took place on Monday, Apr. 28.

An ambulance was subsequently called to render medical assistance to the teacher.

According to SCDF, they received a call for assistance at 10 Jalan Bunga Rampai, where Bartley Secondary School is located, at about 12:25pm on Apr. 28.

The teacher was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and received outpatient treatment.

He has been given medical leave and is recovering at home.

Police report filed

"The safety of our staff and students is of utmost priority," the school said in a statement.

According to CNA, the police have confirmed that a report was lodged and a student was arrested.

According to the school, the student is assisting with investigation and has not returned to school.

"We are in touch with the student and the student’s parents, and will continue to provide support to the student and affected staff," the school said.
