Russia teacher, 62, unknowingly displays porn on screen in class, quits teaching

A teacher in Russia quit his job after he viewed porn during a physics class attended by 13 to 14-year-old students.

He admitted to his actions, but claimed it was "unintentional".

Details about the incident were reported by English media, such as The Daily Mail and The Sun, as well as being shared in Russian on social media.

What video showed

The teacher Razif Nurgaliev, 62, could be seen smirking at his screen while being unaware that what he was viewing was being mirrored and beamed onto the classroom screen behind him in full view of the students, footage shot in a classroom showed.

The co-ed class is in a school located in Tashkinovo village, near the Russian city of Neftekamsk.

The physics teacher had reportedly worked at the school for almost 40 years.

He had apparently forgotten that his laptop was connected to screen behind him, it was reported.

A student filmed the scene.

Thought students played prank on teacher

The initial reaction from personnel in the school was to assume that the teenagers were playing a prank on the veteran teacher.

But the teacher came clean to education officials and admitted: "I clicked on something, and some website opened."

He had been trying to open an online journal, he claimed, and had not intended on watching the explicit material.

A female school head apparently described the teacher as "in shock" after the footage of him ended up being widely circulated.

Backlash from parents

The teacher quit immediately in response to backlash from parents.

The laptop has been confiscated by the authorities.

It was also reported that the school had wanted him to stay on owing to his exemplary career up till the point he committed his X-rated faux pas.

It would be difficult to replace the physics teacher, a school source apparently said, adding that the male teacher was "valued and respected at the school", and stating that the broadcast was "accidental".

The school added that it had launched a review.

The female school head also said she will make a decision after hearing out more sides of the story, having spoken to the children and their parents, before speaking to the teacher.

A law enforcement probe in the Russian region of Bashkortostan was apparently launched.
