Vote between 3 shortlisted names for S'pore River Wonders' female capybara from now till Mar. 23

Bonita, Rosa or Sierra. Which one would you want to name Singapore River Wonders' female capybara?

Mandai Wildlife Reserve is inviting you to vote on a name for their capybara.

On Mar. 16, they posted on Facebook, asking fans to choose a name that reflects the capybara's unique personality.

"Our capybara is thriving in her new, expanded habitat in Amazonia Encounters and all that's left is to give her the perfect name that best reflects her unique personality," they said.

The three shortlisted names are:

• Bonita (meaning "Pretty")
• Rosa (meaning "Rose")
• Sierra (meaning "Mountain")

Get to know the capybara

Aziz, a keeper at River Wonders shared a little more about her to help you decide on the perfect name.

Born at Copenhagen Zoo in 2021, she joined the reserve at just six months old.

Nearly four years old, she was originally part of the Amazon River Quest route.

She will celebrate her fourth birthday in May.

She made her debut at the refreshed River Wonders exhibit on Jan. 22.

Unlike most capybaras, she has a shy personality.

She enjoys spending time alone, basking in the sun or taking dips in her pool.

When she first arrived at Amazonia Encounters, the other animals were curious about her, but she preferred to keep to herself.

She is adapting well to her new surroundings and eating like a champ — and corn is her favourite food.

She has her very own capybara exhibit with a private pool, which also connects to the main Amazonian Wonders exhibit.
