22°C weather for S’pore during 3rd monsoon surge from Mar. 19-21, heavy rain expected
Monsoon surge coming.

Between Mar. 19 and 21, 2025, a surge of north-easterly winds, known also as a monsoon surge, is expected to form over the South China Sea.
For Singapore and the surrounding vicinity, the surge could bring windy and cooler conditions with periods of moderate to heavy showers, said Meteorological Service Singapore in a Mar. 17 media advisory.
Residents of Singapore can also expect lower minimum temperatures of around 22°C during the monsoon surge, which will be the third such occurrence in 2025.
While the monsoon surge will usher in aircon weather for a few days, intense rainfall may overwhelm drains and canals temporarily, causing flash floods, warned PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency.
As such, PUB encouraged residents to stay informed by subscribing to the PUB Flood Alerts Telegram channel and adjust their travel plans if needed.
Rain on most days for rest of March 2025
Other than the expected three-day monsoon surge from Mar. 19 to 21, short-duration thundery showers are forecast in the afternoon on most days for the rest of March 2025.
Daily temperatures may range between 24°C and 34°C on most days.
Overall, the rainfall for the second fortnight of the month is expected to be above average over most parts of Singapore.
Less rain in first half of the month
During the first fortnight of March 2025, thundery showers fell over parts of Singapore in the afternoon on most days.
On a few occasions, the showers also extended into the evening.
Nevertheless, most parts of Singapore recorded below average rainfall over the last two weeks, with Somerset registering a rainfall of 69 per cent below average.
The first half of the month was also hot, with daily maximum temperatures ranging between 28.2°C and 35.1°C.
There were six days when the daily maximum temperature reached 34°C or more.
The highest daily maximum temperature of 35.1°C was recorded at Newton on Mar. 4.
