Private bus driver, 62, dies after colliding with lorry along Outram Road
Police investigations are ongoing.
A 62-year-old private bus driver passed away after his vehicle collided with a lorry along Outram Road towards Cantonment Road on Mar. 12 morning.
Shin Min Daily News reported that it understands that there were around 30 passengers onboard the bus when the fatal incident occured.
The aftermath of the collision was caught on camera by a passer-by, and the footage was subsequently shared with Stomp.
What footage showed
In the video, a white bus had rammed into a tree on the side of the road after mounting the kerb.
The tree was uprooted, presumably due to the impact of the collision.
The rear side of the bus appeared damaged.
Its trunk door had also been opened.
At the same time, a lorry could be seen parked along the leftmost lane.
At least two Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles and an ambulance were present at the scene.
The area of the incident had also been cordoned off.
Police, SCDF statements
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and SCDF confirmed they were alerted to the collision at around 11:20am on Wednesday.
The bus driver was conveyed unconscious to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he subsequently passed away.
A 47-year-old passenger was conveyed conscious to SGH.
Police investigations are ongoing.
