S'pore cars seen causing congestion outside JB petrol station at around midnight
The cars were apparently causing a congestion along the road in both directions.
A number of cars, believed to be Singapore-registered, were seen queuing up to pump petrol at a petrol station in Johor Bahru at around midnight, causing congestion along the road outside.
The scene was caught on camera by a driver who appeared annoyed at the queues and shared the footage online.
What video showed
The vehicles holding up traffic along the road were seen trying to make a right turn into the petrol station, which was relatively packed as its pumps were all occupied.
According to China Press, the incident took place at a Caltex outlet located along Jalan Sri Pelangi, which is about 5.2km from Singapore.
The outlet is situated approximately 5.2km away from Woodlands Checkpoint. Screenshot via Google Maps
What was not immediately clear was whether all the vehicles trying to enter the petrol station were indeed from Singapore.
Slowed traffic down in both directions
The video showed three cars at the petrol station entrance waiting to move forward towards any unoccupied pump.
The exact date of the incident was not disclosed.
However, the moment any cars moved forward, others would proceed to the entrance to resume the three vehicles in a row queue.
The vehicles trying to turn right into the petrol station would also continue to wait along the road for a chance to enter the petrol station, which held up traffic on one of the two lanes.
In response, the male driver who took the video wrote in the caption, "This is Singapore style when using petrol stations somewhere in JB."
He appeared to imply that the vehicles trying to enter the petrol station ought to queue up on the side of the road that the petrol station is located instead.
By trying to turn right into the petrol station that was already crowded, it caused congestion in both directions.
The two double continuous white lines marking seen on the road also implied that vehicles ought not to make a right turn into the petrol station.
Mothership has reached out to the driver for more information.
