A man who allegedly threw a cat off the 34th floor of a Whampoa HDB block was handed four other animal cruelty charges on Feb. 4.

Ryan Tan Yi Bin, 26, allegedly stabbed four other cats in Toa Payoh, according to charge sheets.

He is now accused of abusing five cats in total.

Over the span of two days in September 2024, Tan allegedly stabbed four cats: an orange cat, a white cat, a black tabby, and a white-and-orange cat.

He allegedly stabbed three of the felines on Sep. 21, 2024, and the last cat the next day.

All of the victims were stabbed at various HDB blocks in Toa Payoh.

Cat abuse

In October 2024, Tan was charged for allegedly throwing an orange community cat known to residents as "Field Field" off the 34th floor of an HDB flat in Lorong Limau.

He allegedly kicked it and stamped it on its head multiple times inside the HDB lift before throwing it to its death.

The cat's body was later found by one of its feeders.

It was later revealed that he had been arrested amid investigations into a serial stabbing case of four cats in Toa Payoh.

The cats were found with lacerations to their bodies, as well as other injuries like fractures, which SPCA vets said appeared "consistent with the use of a sharp object".

Tan's case will be mentioned again in court on Mar. 4.

For animal cruelty, an offender can be jailed up to 18 months and fined up to S$15,000 for each charge.

Repeat offenders can be jailed for up to three years and fined up to S$30,000 per charge.
