S'porean man, 20, admits to obtaining over 100 child porn videos over 7 years
He was arrested after police were tipped off.
A 20-year-old Singaporean man was hauled to court after police found he had saved sexually explicit videos depicting young children on his devices.
Mohamed Danial Rafiuddin Bin Mohamed Rashid admitted during investigations that he obtained more than 100 child pornography videos over a period of seven years.
Arrested after tip off
Court documents indicated that police received a tip off in December 2023 accusing Danial, then-19, of having child abuse materials in his possession.
On Dec. 18, 2023, police officers raided Danial's home and found 10 such videos on his iPad and mobile phone.
One of the videos showed a girl as young as five in a sexually explicit position.
Danial was placed under arrest.
Pleaded guilty in court
During investigations, Danial claimed that he was first exposed to child pornography in 2016, when he came across a Facebook group that circulated such materials.
Despite knowing that it was an offence to possess child pornography, he would watch these videos and use screen recordings to save copies of them on his devices.
Danial said that he traded such videos with about 10 to 15 like-minded individuals on Telegram, WhatsApp and Facebook.
He added that he did so for about seven years, up to a few weeks prior to his arrest.
Danial pleaded guilty on Feb. 4 to possessing the videos found on his devices, The Straits Times reported.
The judge asked for reports to assess Danial's suitability for probation and reformative training.
He is set to return to court on Mar. 18, according to ST.
