Man, 43, allegedly gets face smashed with brick in Geylang, police arrest 2 men aged 21 & 22

The Singapore police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 22, for their suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means.

On Feb. 4 at about 9am, the police were alerted to a case where a 43-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a brick along Lorong 21 Geylang.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men were allegedly involved in the assault of the 43-year-old man.

The victim was found with multiple fractures on his face and abrasions on his body.

He was subsequently conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

A brick was seized as a case exhibit.

Officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them within 11 hours after extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs and police cameras.

The two men are to be charged in court on Feb. 6 with the offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means with common intention.

Penalties for the offence include an imprisonment term of up to 15 years, caning, and/or a fine.

The police said they have zero tolerance for such brazen acts of violence and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
