A 38-year-old Iranian woman and her 65-year-old husband, a Singaporean Permanent Resident, were deported and banned from entering Singapore after the Ministry of Home Affairs discovered the two engaging in activities prejudicial to Singapore’s security.

Parvane Heidaridehkordi and Soo Thean Ling were involved in the operations of a Singapore-registered travel agency that had sponsored visa applications by terrorism-linked foreigners to enter Singapore.

The Controller of Immigration cancelled the Long-Term Visit Pass of Paravane, and the Entry and Re-Entry Permits of Soo, who is also a Malaysian national, on Feb. 10, according to a press statement by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Travel agency was a front and has since been deregistered

Investigations found that the travel agency was a front for an operation directed by a foreigner who was based overseas, according to MHA.

The travel agency has since been deregistered.

"Parvane’s husband, Soo, tried to register a company to undertake travel agency business in Singapore on two occasions after the authorities had commenced investigations into the above-mentioned travel agency," said MHA.

The intention was for Parvane to operate these businesses, which would likely have facilitated Parvane’s continued involvement in supporting the entry of terrorism-linked individuals into Singapore.

Both company registration applications filed by Soo were rejected on national security grounds.

Paravane was declared a Prohibited Immigrant for activities harming Singapore’s security, while Soo was likewise declared one due to his familial relation to her.

MHA reminded the public that foreigners in Singapore found engaging in activities that pose security risks are liable to have their immigration facilities revoked and be deported.
