Barbie Hsu’s body to be cremated in Japan, ashes to be returned to Taiwan for burial
Farewell ceremony details are still being discussed.

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, also known as Big S, passed away at the age of 48.
According to Hong Kong media TVBS News, she died of pneumonia caused by influenza while in Japan.
Taiwanese media have reported that her family has decided to complete the cremation process in Japan before returning her ashes to Taiwan for burial.
Details regarding the farewell ceremony and other arrangements are reportedly still being discussed.
Ashes to be sent from Japan to Taiwan
According to Taiwanese media outlet Yiping News Network (壹蘋新聞), Christine Fan, a close friend of Hsu, was in Macau for a concert on Feb. 2 and is now rushing back to Taipei.
She expressed her deep sorrow, saying her "heart is broken" and that she could never have imagined Hsu gone so suddenly, especially after spending time together just days earlier.

On Feb. 3, Fan also shared a black background with no caption on her Instagram as a tribute to the late celebrity.
Hsu, who was not too long ago married to South Korean singer DJ Koo, leaves behind two children from her marriage to Wang Xiaofei, a Chinese businessman.

Family and friends confirm Hsu's passing
The news of Hsu's death was first shared by a Facebook page, Japan Travel, Shopping and Food Information, which reported that a "big star in Taiwan" had passed away at age 48 due to complications from the flu.

Hsu's younger sister, Dee Hsu, later confirmed the news.
Dee Hsu’s agent confirmed the death to TVBS News on the morning of Feb. 3:
"Thank you for your concern! During the New Year, our family travelled to Japan. My dearest and kind sister Xiyuan unfortunately left us due to influenza and pneumonia. I am grateful to be her sister in this life, to take care of each other and accompany each other. I will always be grateful to her and miss her! Shan~ Rest in peace! I will always love you together remember forever."
Wang, Hsu’s ex-husband, reportedly changed his profile picture on Douyin to black.
