A diner in Singapore was left feeling shortchanged after she ordered a S$9.50 squid and prawn burger set from Texas Chicken — only to receive an "extremely small" patty.

The Mothership reader, who gave her name as Lylia, said that she chanced on the promotion at the Upper Serangoon View branch on Feb. 1, and decided to give it a try.

But she was disappointed to find an undersized seafood patty that was significantly smaller than the the bun.

"It was not even near to the size of the bread," she said.

"We all know promotion poster is for illustration purposes only. But this is way too far off."

As she'd ordered the set as takeaway, she only realised that the patty was undersized when she opened the box at home.

As a result, she did not manage to flag it to the Texas Chicken staff, she told Mothership.

"With the anticipation, we [were] quite disappointed with the portion once we opened it up," the diner said.

"We probably will avoid any of their future burgers because of this experience."

One-time occurrence

In response to Mothership's queries, a spokesperson from Texas Chicken said that it had conducted an internal review and determined that the incident was "a one-time occurrence".

"The size of the squid and prawn patty used in our burgers should not vary, and we are confident that the issue reported is an isolated incident," they added.

The spokesperson also provided a photo of what the patty should look like:

"We are working closely with our purchasing and operations teams to ensure that all ingredients consistently meet our quality standards," the spokesperson said.

"We sincerely appreciate our customers' feedback and will continue to monitor our supplies to ensure the best experience for everyone."
