Three men, including a Singaporean, have been arrested by Johor police following a special operation which saw a seizure of various drugs worth nearly RM3.2 million (S$960,000).

The special operation involved seven raids conducted across Johor Bahru between Feb. 6 and 7, Malaysian media Bernama and The Star reported.

The syndicate has been operating since January, and used gated and guarded condominiums as storage facilities, Johor police chief M. Kumar said in a press conference on Feb. 14.

Drugs packed into sachets

The group is believed to have sourced drugs from Kuala Lumpur, mixing several types of drugs into sachets with labels resembling various instant drink brands.

These were then sold for between RM200 (S$60.40) and RM250 (S$75.50) per packet.

The seized drugs include 15kg of ecstasy powder, 1kg of ketamine, 1.35kg of syabu, 294g of cannabis, 7,800 ecstasy pills, and 6,250 Erimin 5 pills.

Police have also confiscated four cars, a motorcycle, 14 luxury watches, jewellery, RM1,491 (S$450) and S$117 in cash.

Investigation ongoing

Two Malaysians aged 41 and 48, as well as a 47-year-old Singaporean, were arrested during the operation. They are being remanded until Feb. 17.

The 41-year-old suspect has prior drug-related and criminal offences.

Urine tests confirmed all three suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police are currently tracking other syndicate members involved and possible international links.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
